Shillelagh Slew Wins 2006 Prince of Wales Stakes

MALAKOFF settled in the early going, made a strong five wide move on the far turn then dueled into the final furlong, was under strong handling then left handed pressure while coming in during the late stages and going clear. SHILLELAGH SLEW stalked the pace then went up to bid 4-wide on the far turn, was in a duel between foes into stretch, vied then steadied mildly on the heels of runner while finishing willingly. PIPERS THUNDER pressed the pace and was a factor between foes on the far turn, battled into the stretch, went head and head with rivals into the final furlong then was steadied in the late going and finished inside runners. ROYAL CHALLENGER off the pace, gained ground and was in the 5-path for the stretch run then gained willingly and had his best stride late. EDENWOLD up on the pace, was between foes and battling on the far turn, dueled from the rail into the final furlong then was squeezed back and gave way. ASCOT BILL trailed the field for six then passed a tired one. STERWINS vied from the outset then took a slim lead after going a half, was in a duel on the far turn then faltered and had nothing left for the stretch run. CIFERCAT had speed to vie early then backed away and faded. A STEWARDS' inquiry into the stretch run resulted in the disqualification of MALAKOFF from first placed fifth for interference against rivals in the final furlong.
